How it all began
Our Story
It began the way so many great love stories do - quietly, without anyone knowing quite what it was.
Chris and Kat met during their very first week of college. He was one of the first friends she made, and almost effortlessly, their circles merged into one. Before long, they were all spending every weekend together, tangled up in the particular chaos of being young and free.
For a while, that's all they were: part of the same world, orbiting the same people, building the same memories. Weekend hangs, late nights, the beautiful nonsense of early adulthood. For years, that was enough.
Then came 2018, and what can only be described as their roommate era. They were both in need of a roommate, and conveniently, inevitably, they found each other. What followed was the kind of quiet domesticity that sneaks up on you. She would come home to find her favorite snacks waiting on the counter, their favorite show already queued up. They stayed up too late, talking about everything and nothing. They built a rhythm that felt, without either of them saying so, a lot like home.
The snacks, the shows, the late nights talking - it already felt like something. And then he said the words that made it official: let's get a cat.
So, as friends, they adopted Chonky. And by now, dear reader, you can see exactly where this is going - and so could they.
Two weeks after bringing Chonky home, they finally stopped pretending.
And in true Friends fashion — think Monica and Chandler, secret smiles and all — they told absolutely no one for an entire month.
That was nearly eight years ago.
Since then, they have grown up side by side. They navigated early adulthood together, added two fur kids to the family and, for good measure, a horse too. They've traveled, built a beautiful life, and become, in every sense of the word, each other's person.
This is the short version of their story. The long one is still being written.
Thank you for being here as they make the most important promise of their lives. Your presence means the world to them both.
